Building a Magna Carta for the digital age

To mark the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta and the 25th anniversary of the World Wide Web, The British Library created a new educational project called Magna Carta: My Digital Rights. The project is a new national schools programme inviting Secondary and FE students and teachers to consider their rights and responsibilities online. The British Library encouraged young people across the globe to co-create a Magna Carta for the digital age, and invited the general public to vote for their favourite clause.

From filming monologues to interviewing the creator of the World Wide Web!

To spark debate and highlight some of the issues, Chocolate Films produced a series of films for the project. These included short dramatic monologues performed by actors, which highlighted the human impact of issues such as cyber-bullying, as well as discussion films featuring key thinkers in the field, such as Shami Chakrabarti, Direcror of Liberty and Tim Berners-Lee, the creator of the World Wide Web.

This film gives an overview of the project.
